Among them, 212,700 tons of flour were exported to the CIS countries, a year-on-year increase of 15.1%. Most of Kazakhstan’s flour exports go to Uzbekistan: 158,000 tons (up 17.6%). The top three countries in Kazakhstan’s flour export market also include Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

From January to the end of May, the flour supply of Kazakh enterprises met 98.9% of the market demand (sales in the domestic market plus export). Although the import volume increased by 2.4 times, it was only 14,400 tons compared with the domestic production of 1.3 million tons in the same period. Flour sales in the domestic market fell by 21.3% to 551,700 tons.
In July this year, the price of flour in Kazakhstan rose by 36.6% compared with the same period in July 2021. The price of first-grade flour was 225 tenge and the price of high-grade flour was 343 tenge. Among the major cities in Kazakhstan, the highest flour price is Nur-Sultan (424 tenge) and the lowest is Pavlodar (222 tenge per kilo).
The rise in flour prices is due to higher raw material prices, namely higher wheat prices. Wheat accounts for 70% of flour costs. Previously, the price of wheat continued to rise from 90,000 tenge/ton to 190,000 tenge in mid-June. But since July 1, after Russia resumed exports, the price of wheat has dropped to 130,000 tenge/ton.
